15 Nationale Naturlandschaften auf einem Drittel der Landesfläche zwischen Uckermark und Lausitz hüten und mehren diesen Schatz. Der Nationalpark Unteres Odertal, die Biosphärenreservate Flusslandschaft Elbe, Spreewald und Schorfheide-Chorin sowie elf Naturparke sind Markenzeichen Brandenburgs – und Modelle für den Einklang von Nutzen, Schutz und Schönheit.

Brandenburg: a tranquil state circling the bustling capital city. A cathedral of beeches rises out of the moraine landscape, carpets of blooming flowers in the meadows stretch towards the horizon, and countless lakes glitter where ancient glaciers once formed basins. A peaceful treasure – Brandenburg’s natural riches. Here ospreys and white-tailed sea eagles circle in the clouds and nosedive towards their prey. Here great bustards spectacularly court their mates. Here droves of migrating geese and cranes rest on their long journey. And in many villages, the chattering of storks greets the visitor.

Fifteen national natural landscapes on one third of the area between the Uckermark and Lausitz are home to and enhance this treasure. The National Park Lower Oder Valley (Unteres Odertal), the Biosphere Reserve Riparian Landscape Elbe (Flusslandschaft Elbe), the Spree Forest (Spreewald), and Schorfheide-Chorin, as well as 11 further nature parks, are Brandenburg’s trademark, and a model for the reconciliation of use, protection, and beauty.
